I know a lot of you are experienced with adding ailerons. I just want some advice, dimensions mainly, for adding a set of decent flaps. I like ailerons just fine, but the sole purpose will be just using them as flaps for take off and landings. I have a Tx and Rx capable of this, I just want some tried and true, tested dimensions and locations for flaps for smooth landings. I have read several of your posts and understand that there has been plenty of success using flap setups. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. ;D

I can tell you that my 1.5 x 7 inch ailerons worked very well(which I programmed as flaperons). These were mounted in the exact center of each wing. I chose 1.5 because it sits well behind the wing strut mount. This is probably just me being overly cautious, as I don't think it is likely to pull out or crack.
I have since rebuilt a new wing with 10 x 1.5 inch ailerons/flaperons. I hinged them in the the middle of the wing/aileron edge. They seem to work equally or slightly worse than my previous, smaller ailerons which were hinged on the bottom surface of the wing. Those were made with a V-groove on top of the wing, and the tape/hinge placed flat across the bottom of the wing surface. Perhaps this made it more effective.
I didn't care for the look with the large gap visible on top, which is why I changed it on the new ones. I would recommend the hinge/joint be at the bottom, rather than the middle, based on my experience.

Here's my old set-up. Worked incredibly well. I put tape on the bottom edge, and made a "V" cut from the top. Make sure you mount the control horns as close to the hinge portion as possible to give maximum throw.
