Could not be happier with the Super Cub.
I researched for 3 weeks to find the best beginner plane, and I came to the Super Cub as the winner, hands down, and for $170 to my door with an extra battery and 4 extra props!!
Was amazed that the batteries were both efully charged it seems.
I followed the instructions and it said install the battery amd run it down till it dies for proper power sysling/charging. I started the prop faster and faster until I was @ full throttle (it was sure pulling, lol) I left it there and alternated between full, 1/2 and 3/4 while testing out the servos as well. It ran like that for 5 minutes!
I tried the other battery and it was the same
So after doing all the protective mods I have read about, I decide to fly it, in the dark, my 1st r/c plane ever. After a minutes or 2 on the ground, familiarizing myself with the controls, and STILL not seeing the battery seem to get any slower, I decided to lift the SC up in the air. Had to apply some rudder to keep the SC's takeoff straight, and it took right off, I took it about 8 feet high, and then turned/banked it, and went a few more feet, and crashed on my landing (mainly cause I couldn't see). Took it up a 2nd time very briefly, and landed it fine in grass.
Went down the street a bit, and flew teh 3rd and final time, took it up about 15 feet, was playing around with the controls a bit (trim) and was about to start a banking turn back toward me to land, and an unseen pine tree branch smacked it down, only damage prop broke on one side.
Fixed in a jiffy ;D
Initial thoughts:
I made the right purchase decision
R/C forums really educated me over the last 3 weeks
Extremly nice, protective packaging
Excellent manual and cd
Very nice quality overall, and nicely engineered
Bravo, HobbyZone, Bravo
