Hello All,
Had some really unlucky flying. Weather was clear and calm- The little Mini cub took off almost straight up, turned right and nose dived into the ground. After inspecting the little bird I decided she’ll be fine. Second flight again had same problem. Third time was a charm (I thought) the plane flew parallel to the ground and turned suddenly.
I took the plane home and found several issues- The motor mount broke loose from the foam fuselage, but the biggy was the receiver had broken loose which messed up the servo actuators. The receiver and servos are mounted on the same board.
Gorilla glue and hot glue saved the day.
Today had totally different problems. Once in flight the little bird’s motor kicked off, on then off again. ? What happened? Not sure but the third so called landing broke the tail off. Gorilla glue to the rescue again.
The afternoon flight took me to a new field away from small kids. I turned the ACT off and replaced the transmitter batteries (just a case). Did you know if you take those long poles for cleaning pools and duct taped them together you could reach 30 feet in a tree? Plane flew like a champ but now the wind was higher and I should have given up before I crashed into the tree.
Final damage- lost the wheels- some delamination on the wing tips (fixed with packing tape).
Lesson learned
Don't rush assembly and double check your work. Check the wind and direction; maintain a safe distance from trees and other obstacles.
