I know that it's long but I didn't want to create two videos. I had to chop it to pieces to get it to upload to YouTube. Anyway, it's a series of events spanned over a three day period. Power lines, towing gone wrong, upside down in the water and a potentially fatal crash. I could almost post this in the Crash section. My plane is stripped down for repairs and maintenance...touching up the paint, straightening out bent pieces, new prop/cowling, landing gear with plastic skirts, broken drop module cavity hatch and a steering issue still not identified.

Very entertaining Aces. Nice footage from the small white foamy.

Notes while watching the vid: Wow, I can' believe you threaded those power lines twice with no hits! That foamy glider didn't have a very good lift component, it was constantly below the SC! You sure got a lot of jitter on those servos!

Notes while watching the vid: Wow, I can' believe you threaded those power lines twice with no hits! That foamy glider didn't have a very good lift component, it was constantly below the SC! You sure got a lot of jitter on those servos! Thanks for the feedback. power lines: My co-pilot couldn't believe it either "What the heck are you doing!?" When I turned the plane around after the first pass, I was going to go over the lines but she didn't climb right away after the bank so I decided last second to go under. My co-pilot just shook his head. Foamy Glider: Yeah, both gliders were a test to see which would be better. The first one didn't work out very well. It was a Firebird II with no motor or battery and the tail wing was missing the elevators. I may have set myself up for failure but the "test toss" went a lot smoother. I found a foamy online thats like $5.00 with a larger wing span (4.5ft). The reviews on it say that it's flimsy but it might do the trick (link below) The tow was a two day flight process. the first flight with the small foamy had a short tow on it as you could see in the video but I forgot to start the video recorder. The second flight with the foamy I extended the tow line out to about 12-14ft because the first flight looked like it was hanging under the cub too. Servo Chatter: It does that. How do I make it stop or is that the nature of cheap servos? Anybody else have chirping servos? 4.5ft foamy: www.amazon.com/Ultra-Flyer-Glider-4-5/dp/B0006O1Y7I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1270137351&sr=1-3

Cheap servos do that. It happens on my SC with Turnigy servos and on my HK Pitts. No worries; The Cub doesn't need precision.

YES. Mine chirp without the TX on. The exact same sound and sequence. Also, the motor will pop on then off quickly. Is this normal guys?
Oh, great vid. I had the crunch and munch in my hand waiting for the big finale crash..

YES. Mine chirp without the TX on. The exact same sound and sequence. Also, the motor will pop on then off quickly. Is this normal guys? When the planes electronics are on without the TX being on it becomes confused and will sometimes make up its own mind what to do. Always switch on the TX before the plane and the reverse when finished.

Thanks SCC. I was turning the TX off to ensure the throttle stayed off during those long fetch walks. Not worth it. Seems to know when I was close to the cowl and would "pop" on. Thanks again,

both those rough landings could be prevented if you restarted the motor. i'm assuming you know how to do it, but for all the newbies out there: drop throttle to zero, than take it up to 50 percent, especially for the people (me) who run full throttle till landing. it will usually have enough power to get you lined up or turned for a second approach. usually

I never restart. Unless its a do or crash situation. I'm too scared I'll lose every thing because once its gone its gone. Plus not good for the lipo.

i don't use li-po batteries.
i've got one (1!) NI-MH battery that came with the plane. that's it.
the restarted motor also shuts off again after about 20-30 seconds, so it's still thinking about the battery. after a certain point, it won't let you restart period. (i tested this as i cycled my battery. not as i flew.)
