The latest post by thrawn127 (http://supercubclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=intro&thread=2862&page=1) gave me an idea. I've watched plenty of RC videos, and tons on the Super Cub. But I haven't really seen many how-to videos. I know there are some on a few mods and such, but some that new RC flyers can get good advice on. Landings, simple and major repairs, simple mods. I think I would like to try making one on landings for beginners, and then one for intermediates. I just need my wife or one of my friends to do the camera work.
What do you think of the Club members making such videos, and using that as an advertising tool for the Club as well (beginning and ending ad with the site URL)? What other topics do you think would be of value?

jbess. I think that would be a cool idea. If there is enough interest I will set up a seperate board to make it easy to find.

As a complete noob, some beginner's video tutorials would be great! Especially trimming. I have absolutely no idea how to trim once i get into the air. Of course I haven't even seen my plane yet since i just ordered yesterday. So, it would be great to see a video of how to trim with the stock radio; maybe PIP of the plane and the persons hands trimming it out. Just some thoughts. i realize that would take some serious editing and at least 2 cameras.

When I get some time, and my wife or friend is available, I'll work on the landing video. I think that one is most important as far as priority. You can fly an out of trim airplane, but you eventually HAVE to land.

Hehe...I would have thought the out of trim plane might force one of those landings Then again I'm guessing for my first flight I won't have to do any landing.... Really though i would love to see a how-to land vid. Would be amzing especially if it happened before my plane gets here on tuesday! LOL...j/k of course. No pressure ;D

Great idea!! I wouldn't be where I'm at now without all of the great "How To's" from various posts.

There are vids out there, but it's the simulator vids, not as real as real life. We are supposed to have crappy weather today and tomorrow, so I'm not sure if I will get to start anything just yet. I will script out what I want to show though, and yes, I will try for pic in pic showing the controls.

Thanks jbess. that would be really helpful. I can land at about 99% in the sims so far but I am doing it with a keyboard as i don't have a radio for fms. Man, I miss the weather in the Springs. Even though the wind there is almost as bad as it is here. Just for a shorter period I think. But at least there were some actual seasons there. It is already getting hot here. Ack \\edit: BTW, I worked as an EMT at the summit house on Pikes Peak for a while. Can the Super Cub fly somewhere like that? Is that much altitude(14,110ft) an issue? It would look pretty amazing if it could. It would definitely create some interesting pencam footage too.

I took my SC up to 10,000' on Old Stage Road behind Cheyenne Mountain, and it flew wonderfully there. I flew it off a cliff, and was white knuckled the whole time for fear I would crash and have to try to retrieve my plane on the forest of trees/cliff side below me. Since the engine is electric, altitude doesn't affect it like a gas engine would be. The only effect is less air density on the prop and over the wings. I don't think 14,000 is enough to have any significant effect on lift though.

Nice! Man I wish I still lived there. When I post the vid of my maiden flight you will see how ugly it is here. It's basically an oil patch in the desert. It would be pretty bad to lose it over a cliff! Search and rescue may have to get involved...lol. Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack this thread! I look forward to some how to vids and some scenery from one of my favorite places in the country!
