Just checked out some FPV flying on youtube. Absolutely awesome, as soon as I can fly my plane properly I will definitely be trying this.
Thanks for the heads up, Id never heard of it as a total noob.

I am playing with RPV but I am flying the Mini Super Cub. The Video transmitter I have ordered is a 2.4Ghz 500mw. This will far exceed the capabilities of the mini cub so I'll just have to breakdown and upgrade to the Super Cub LiPo.

I'm going to keep watching this thread to see what FPV is. First Person View? I have been working on the wife to let me get the Go Pro Hero HD. But between that and all of the other stuff that I've bought and want, I'm going to have to make some choices. Thank goodness one of us is watching the checkbook. ;D

For those who've not checked it out, also look at the "Air Art" video this guy did. Brilliant! Every shopping centre (mall) should have one. It would give the blokes something to watch while their ladies are browsing the fashion shops.

LOVE the chase plane footage! The Air Art was cool too. I found something similar while surfing the net months ago; I'll have to see if I can find it. I did talk to the wife today about my “RC habits” budget and I am opting to get the Go Pro HD camera. My seller was that I want to use it for RC as well as Kayaking, and mountain biking which I do quite a bit of in the spring/summer. It's looking like mid May for the cam. Below is a link to a guys vids that I have been watching of it. My ultimate goal is to be flying the Hanger 9 J-3 Piper electric ARF or the E-Flight J-3 cub 25 ARF within a year or so. I’m investigating both. I practice on the HZSC, obviously, but also use Realflight Basic which has a similar cub in the hanger. I still need to buy a TX and all of the toys that go with it…hence the” RC habit budget”. I’m realistically looking at having those things Spring of 2011 due to the fact that I’m sending my daughter off to college this year. I'm also thinking about a middle plane, something with ailerons to practice with. J-3 Cub w/ GO Pro. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOR2OexY0EsCool pinguins: www.festo.com/ext/en/12085_12109.htm#id_12105I may have hijacked the thread...sorry.

Is FPV easier as you have no control reversal when coming towards yourself? obviously you still do if you were to take the goggles off but I mean it wont feel like it with a cockpit view, will it?

Aces IMHO I think your making a wise choice. I have a FPV kit and its great but it can be a pain in the rear. I have a kit with goggles and it cost mucho £££ If I wanted to record footage and have less dropouts it would cost more £££ and the quality from the cams are not great. I recently got a Gopro HD and its a fantastic camera and as you pointed out it can be put to many uses. As I write this I am now thinking of selling the FPV and go for another GPro ;D BTW. While I was searching for a Gopro I found a company in the States that was doing a good deal on the Motorsport version $213. At the time it was out of stock. I was going to order one but I got fortunate and one came up in the UK secondhand. Heres the link www.superbikesupply.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SBS&Product_Code=camera-gopro-01&Category_Code=camera-gopro

John Thats correct John. When flying FPV you don't think what way to push your stick it just comes naturally. Some people (without FPV gear) visualize themselves in the cockpit to help them with nose in flying. I got used to flying to wards me by propping up the wing method. So if the plane is heading to wards you and the wing on the right dips, all you have to do is move your stick over to prop up the wing.

What you say makes total sense. When I fly my sim I do picture myself in the cockpit when coming towards myself, my brain seems to frazzle otherwise & is unable to get it consistently right! John

Another great thing about FPV is, it kinda turns my FPV games like ace combat into a practice sim! ;D

LOL...Taco Bell run. That's a great price compared to what I have been able to find. The cheapest I've seen has been $250.00 Thanks SCC!
