Hi all, new to the forums. Thought I'd share too. Here is a quick, easy and strong way to make wing struts for your HZ Supercub and similar aircraft. They are sleek and look good. This project cost me $11. All you need is here. I also pre cut 4 traces at 18 inches. Swivels. I used over sized ones here. First I did the master swivel that snaps onto the eye bolts shown here. You add two traces onto this. First slide the crimp on and twist the wire as shown Then gently melt the wire so it holds by itself Then slide the crimp up and go for it Snap a swivel onto the strut mount, slide another crimp on the wire, pull the wire until a slight tension is felt and repeat the above steps for crimping. Repeat the above steps for all 4 mounts and it should look like this You then adjust the tension by turning the eye bolts. All this took me 15 minutes and the result looks pretty good to me. I Hope this helps someone.

I hate to rain on your parade mate, but if you have such strong struts they're likely to do some damage to the plane on a rough landing. It's a good looking mod, and I'm sure it will work very well, but I can see that wire ripping out either the battery box or the eyes on the wings if the wing takes a hard knock.
One solution I used for a while was to use string instead of wire. The string will stretch or break when it needs to. At the moment I'm using the stock struts, but haven't fixed them to the battery box, just tied them to each other with a cable tie. So far that seems to very crash resistant too.

Ive been using the same mod for quite some time now with no ill affects at all, and Ive crashed it pretty hard. And they are very light weight.

I'm not a conservative pilot so when I crash, it's normally pretty bad anyway so it doesn't bother me if I rip more out. I have flown my cub a few times since the mod and it's going quite O.K.

LOL, well said. If you going to do something properly there's no point in making a half arsed job out of it. There are also those (I think i heard killioughta say it) that go by the philosophy "I build my plane to fly, not to crash"
