1. After you remove 3m packing tape does it leave much behind that will create problems for painting over ?? 2. How well does tape stick to the painted plane after a paint job? 3. What kind of glue can the wife pick up at walmart... Do they carry gorilla or is there a decent epoxy that they sell??

After you remove the packing tape, lightly sand the foam with 400+ grit sand paper. Take the shine off of all of the areas receiving paint. Wipe the surface with a clean damp cloth. I would re-apply tape to the leading edges of the wing and anything else that you want protected by tape. You could just leave the tape, lightly sand it so that the shine is removed, and then paint over it. I prefer this method myself. It really depends on your tape job. For my next project, I'm thinking about removing all paint from my cub. (Can be done by using packing tape. stick and remove, stick and remove. The last time that I did this I removed about 99% of the paint with the exception of cracks and crevices) Then I plan to carefully tape the entire plane, sand the tape and paint it. I believe that the paint will hold much better to the tape than the foam. My cub holds up so so on the paint job. I touch up pretty much after every flight. No matter how careful the landing or flight I always seem to get small stress cracks in the paint. Sometimes I accidentally bump it and a bit of paint comes off from where I made contact. I have yet to touch up any paint from my taped edges. All painted tape has held as good as the paint on the cowl. All of this depends on how much weight you can get away with adding. I have sacrificed some weight addage to my cub but so far without any flight performance issues. She flys great! To paint the cowl or any other plastics, wet sand with 400 grit until all is dull. Paint everything with thin coats of Krylon Fusion avail at most dept stores. Coat it until the edges of the tape almost disappear. Use 5 min epoxy for permanent bindings. There's CA glue and stuff but I use the 5 min epoxy. It's foam friendly. Don't forget to post pics. We want to see it.
