Bought a master airscrew 8x7 and a 9x6. It was a bit windy when I tested them out so the conditions were pretty adverse, but I didn't find the 8x7 had enough thrust for me to keep the cub in the air in those kid of conditions. It might be OK for if it was dead still and your cub was stock as and nice and light, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. I may use it for an airboat, it would be handy having a smaller prop for that purpose, and the master airscrew's are excellent quality.
ONE WARNING... Because they are so solid and well reinforced, drilling them out can be a bit difficult. The drill bit is VERY graby with them, and just wants to pull straight through. If you just want to drill out a collar a few mm deep it is VERY difficult with these props. The only way you can really do it accurately is drilling by hand.
I buggered up one of the props when I tried to drill out a recess so it wouldn't grab to the nut on the front of the prop saver and the drill went right through. I managed to salvage it by drilling out a slightly bigger hole that was the right size for some prop shaft adapters I got with some cheap APC props from hobbyking. For some stupid reason the master airscrew props I got from my LHS didn't come with the shaft adapters.
The 9x6 was much more able to keep the cub in the air, but I still only made it a very quick flight because the wind was so bad. In the manual, it says that the stock cub motor (480 brushed) can use anything from a 9x6 (stock) to a 10x8 (recommended for using the floats). That seems to be a pretty good guideline to stick to for prop sizes, 8 inch seems a bit small for the stock motor. Master airscrew 9x5 would probably go alright, but I don't think you could get away with much less prop than that.
I think I'll buy a few Master Airscrew 9x6s and 9x7s from Hobbyking, I'm not sure if they come with the shaft adapters on there though. Does anyone know?
