The US military?
Very cool set up, fly your plane with goggles giving you a first person view. Does it have night vision?
Is there currently an easy solution for a portable digital video recording device for the receiver, or is a laptop computer with a capture card about as good as it gets?

Well for now I am going to use a small hand held video recorder to plug the reciever into. I can then use the small lcd monitor on the ground based video camera to see the live feed from the airborne camera, and I can record the feed with the ground based video camera as well. What do you think? I still want the goggles though. Check it out here! www.myvu.com/Myvu-Crystal-C24.aspxEven more here!!! www.i-glassesstore.com/

What sort of range do you get out of the video transmitter? I'd be hoping it would work within the range of the stock transmitter (750m, 2500ft)
Being able to fly you plane with goggles giving you a first person point of view has to score at least an 8/10 for coolness. If it has night vision I think you've secured a solid 10/10!

Its definately possible to have infra red cams. I am just learning how to do all this but there are some people out there really doing awesome things. Do some youtube.com searches for Super Cub Onboard Cam
The range on my video unit is 1000ft, but so far I have gotten MUCH better distance than that when I walked down the road while my friend held the reciever.
