Stupid Mistake, almost lost SC LP

Went flying today, only to make a big mistake I should of known better.

I had a great big, HUGE field to fly in. Over to the left, off the field in a yard, was a big tree.

I remembered when I was in a boat with a friend, we where on a big lake (55 miles long). The lake was empty of people. There was a little boat with two guys fishing. A couple young kids in jet ski's came around the area where these guys where. My friend comented, they have the whole lake to themselves, and they do all this stuff right around the fisherman.

I thought the same thing, as I flew the plane around the area of a big tree. I have all the area to fly, why would I fly around a area of a big tree?

I thought I was way past it, but miss judged and got stuck in a tree.

A school shared the field, so if I left and it came down, some kids would get it.

I went to the Public Works, and a guy named "Scott", got the truck with a bucket. He went up and got it with a bucket and a poll.

What in the heck did I fly around a tree when I had the whole park to fly in?

I learned a good lesson. Very glad I got the plane back.

Put the cursor on the picture in photobucket you want to paste in this forum, left click on it and a menu will drop down, left click on the URL next to IMG Code, this'll copy it so you just paste it in this forum. Hope that helps. Saw the pics you posted, nice! Glad you got the plane back. (hopefully with minimal damage)

I got my last Cub stuck that high in a tree and climbed up to get it. My wife says I wouldn't do that if SHE was stuck in a tree. I say I would leave her up there a few days

Thanks, I got it to work.

I thought about climbing, but it had no branches sticking out. They where cut off. Plus, I did not realize it, but when I asked the owners kid if he ever climbed the tree (thinking I would pay him) he said, no not with the dog back there.
I looked and then saw a Black and White Pit Bull. He/She was in a fenced off area, where the tree was.

Broke the Struts, looked on the internet and there back ordered until 10/20/09.

I hate to start a run on struts, but I think the answer for me is to get about 10 of them.

Don't worry about the stock struts, they're gay.

You can reuse your broken ones like this:

Or you can use fishing clips and string/fishing line.

This is what inspired me to make my wing struts. I use fishing swivels to attach to the wings, with the hooks trimmed and bent so that they can pop off under pressure:
