I see a lot of good advice on Strut Mods. Any suggestions on what to do if you want to keep the originals? I use a bigger Lipo, so I have to take my wings off a lot to change battery. It doesn't fit in the bottom. I want to keep the originals, but make them stay on better.
Thank you, Chris.

I use a paper clip that I bent to fit around both strut holes. Quick on and off.

When the curls from the wing end break I heat a paper clip that I straighten out and put a hole in the end when the curl broke off then I put the where they shold go on the wing and use some light wire and wire then to the inserts in the wing. On the batt box end I use the clips for fishing. I again make a hole with heated paper clip ( above where the stock hole is, or to where the strut is no super floppy.) So now I have easy and quick wing removal. Plus more rugged on the wing end, and the struts are stock.
Hope this made sense.
George

I can't grasp what your saying how to do it. Can you post a pic? Chris.

If you look in the struts section of this forum you'll find the pics there.
Instead of attaching the ends of the wing struts to the battery box, you connect them to each other with a paper clip.

I saw them already. I am talking about the wing ends tho.

I couldn't figure out how to reuse old struts when the hooks on the end break off, so I just swapped over to fishing clips and string.

When the hooks break off heat a paper clip and make a hole in the strut ends, then just use some wire and hook it to the wings that way.
Much stronger, and looks original.

Here is my paper clip mod for the Strut. Doesn't seem like it will hold very long. Chris. [a href=" "] [/a]

Ah, so THAT's how it's done. Doesn't look too bad.
Don't worry if it doesn't look like it will hold for too long, it's not supposed to be a permanent fixture. The struts should be able to pop off in a crash so that they don't tear your plane apart.
Nice work

Thank you Dillzio,
I'm a dummy and use to getting criticized, thank you for being positive.
The part that looks the worst, is where the clip goes into the strut. Not much room. I think it will break at that point.
I think I may get a strong piece of wire. Have one end with the hook, run it back to the plane, around the screw in the fuselage, then back to the wing to the other connection point with a hook.
I also thought about running each wire to a washer. Then soldering each wire and having the washer be the connection point that screws into the fuselage. It would be a washer, hooked to the fuselage screw, then two wires out to the wing, bent in a hook like the picture.
Could even be wire from one wing hook, to the fuselage, wrapped around the screw, then back out to the wing hook. No soldering needed. I want to make it as easy as possible.
Or I could order 10 sets of Struts, and replace them each time with new, stock ones.
Chris.
