so, as an aerospace engineering major, I decided I was going to put my knowledge to use and analyze the hobby zone super cub. However, I came across some specifications that didn't quite make sense. Either I am being really out of it and missing something obvious or something is off.... The specifications claim the plane has a 47.75'' wing span. I can agree with that, checked with measurements. However, the specifications claim the wing area is is 890 in^2. this would mean the cord of the wing would roughly have to be about 18.6 inches. I know the wing is curved, however, I see no way it has that large of a cord, I measured and estimated about an 8 inch cord. I really want to get some accurate calculations and really analyze this plane but I am having a hard time. Anyone know what is up? Are these specifications on this site wrong, or am I just having one of those days? specifications here: www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=1003

You're right. If the wing area is 890 the chord must be 18.63 inches. The real wing area is more like less than 346. The specs at RCU are probably wrong; the person who wrote it must have made a mistake.
