Ahhh... Went to New York, figured Id bring a plane for my nephew (12) to fly and we could get some stick time in. Well went for the $96 total deal from Hobby Zone (the stock SC on Ch of my choice but no radio, battery, chargers or instructions), had plenty of left over stock stuff and a couple Ch 5 radios so we were good to go. He's never flown, had no sim time but a good time was had by all! We put the plane together in the AM and were ready to fly at noon, no rain (storm front was moving thru but the rain held off) just clouds and no wind, fantastic! After a couple of failed ROGs the plane got in the air and was just cruising around (man is that thing anemic) It was rather fun though (drew a crowd of spectators so at least they liked it) Well after a while "someone" pulled a dumb thumbs moment and the SC nosed into the ground, broke the prop and since we didn't have a spare, that was it for that plane (for the day) Then out comes my plane with a brushless 450 & Li Po, now for some flying! On the 2nd battery I give my radio to "someone else" and they fly the plane around, right into a tree. Mega kudos to the person who suggested a sling shot, weight and fishing line! Here's a picture of trying to get just the right branch hooked.
And here's a pic of the set up after a branch is snagged (can even see the fishing line and yellow plane)
After a liberal amount of shaking this is what came out of the tree
Not too bad at all, a little glue, packing tape and she'll be ready to fly again (oh and tail feathers, more damage than there appears) Overall, on a scale of 1 to 3: ;D ;D ;D
