NEW SUPER CUB!

I am building a new super cub. I am thinking big by going small. I am building a 20 inch wingspan RC plane. I trashed one of my PZ micro cessna 210s so I ripped the radio gear out of it and bought a Guillows Piper Super Cub 95 for 9 bucks. The little cub is a free flight rubber band powered model. With the tiny radio gear they make now anything can be made RC.
The little gear boxed motor will pull it around with no wheels so I am good in the power department and I have lightened every square inch of plane I could. Right now the plane with lipo battery, motor, speed control and both servos the plane weights 17 grams!!!! I expect it to weight .8 oz when I am done covering with tissue paper and adding the tail surfaces. A micro plane with a 10oz per square foot wing loading is considered a good combo. I should have a 7oz per sq foot wing loading when I am done.

Updated pictures. I will be done tomorrow at this rate. When it is all said and done I will have about 10 hours in it. Most of that time will be in the covering! I did use Microlight covering.I have a working elevator and landing gear now. All that is left is the rudder, windows, covering the rest of the fuse and adding wing struts.

My mother-in-law gave me that same kit for Xmas. Still waitin' t' build it. I'll be my first build since I was 20-odd. (Jeez, I'm gettin' OLD!!!)

i've always wanted to build one of those kits as a r/c style. i got two Guillows p-40 warhawk kits. always thought it would be cool to fly one
