yep, i have stuck my phone to the cub a few times with a logging program, and now i have a small gps logger that i can put on any plane or rc and check out top speed, altitude and it will even plot your tracks in google earth.
i think the top speed on my super cub was 56mph on about 300watts. i hit 97mph in a dive on a sports flyers simple stick and 76mph level on the same motor.

thanks duck. Did the track have good enough resolution to see your vertical movements? Or just horizontal?
I was going to try last night but had some troubles.

Ok, so I strapped my Garmin eTrex Legend to my SC tonight. Other than forgetting to set my logging interval to the highest level it worked out well. You can't see the loop, but perhaps next time. Also, it says my max speed during the dive with stock equiptment was 38.8 mph. Was entertaining, will try again.

cool belem, most gps units have a 1hz refresh rate, or once per second, which isn't enough to detect fast movement like loops, unless its a huge loop. admiral, im using a sky trace gps which is just a small logger. you just hook it up to a usb port and download the log and it will give you the max altitude, speed, climb rate and all that good stuff.

the new eagle tree system will do 5hz (5 sample/second), but for the screwing around i use mine for (see who can fly the highest) im not going to buy another one. but if your looking for something more practical for rc i would look in to it. i like my skytrace because its less then an oz, as were my phone was over 5oz lol.
ill bring it with me tomorrow and do a few loops and see if mine will record it. thats if i can find my wing bolt lol.
