Wow I wonder how much the fuselage was reinforced for that motor? That thing went real nicely.
Still though I don't have much interest in the maintenance, clean-up, mess, constant oil drip from every nook of the plane, gas spillage, ever rising cost of nitro fuel, noise, fire, tune-ups, glow plugs, igniters and batteries for the igniter and a host of other items as long as this one when dealing with gas/nitro controlled R/C.
I did the gas truck thing for a while but with the amazing advances in battery technology unless going real REAL big the only thing I can think is WHY?

Why?
Because it's there
Only time I tried "nitro" was with those COX planes that fly on a line in a circle, long ago but fun, messy and noisey.

I know there are many who love their gas buggies, trucks, cars, planes etc., that's great. But for the effort and the only reward in my perception, because it's there, doesn't cut it. I have heard of clubs/airfields that frown on electrics as inferior second-string knock offs of their noisy, dirty, maintenance laiden gas hogs. Thankfully the air club I am aligned with is not such. So if someone loves em great! Not for me though. Wayne PS. Is neat though someone chucking a Nitro motor in a Super Cub, if for nothing else yeah the because it can be done factor.

I have done all the "land" vehicles in nitro and gas. I now have a 1/4 scal HPI Baja SS totally rocking, 4+HP runs on just regular gas. I will never go back to nitro, always probs, tuning, motor break in, always being careful to get it tuned right. My Buggy just start it and run it, like a chain saw or weed eater. I love it. It is rugged, and big, and fast! I would never go back to nitro, if anything it woudl be gas. I do like electric though, charge them, toss them in fly. It is all preference.

That was pretty neat. I dont think I would do it to mine, but it was neat.
I really dont have much interest in Gas or nitro engines either. I think the modern brushless/lipo systems are so much easier to deal with.
I bought my SC because it was a good 3 channel plane to learn with. I was stepping up from a 2 channel Cosmic Flyer/Avionic. It served its purpose and continues to be fun, but some day I will buy a plane ONLY for fun. I want an LA7 Russian Fighter (ww2 era) and when I do finally find and build one someday, it will be gas or nitro. I want something loud and fast for my ww2 fighter model. It also has to 55 inches wingspan or better!
I cant wait. SOMEday...when I get better at flying.
