After building my new aileron wing with flaps, I was hoping to keep it in the best shape possible. I noticed I would constantly bump the tips of my wing removing the plane from my van or just moving it around the work bench. This created little marks and sometimes chunks of foam to come loose.
A simple solution that worked for me is to take foam safe CA and put a bead on the wing tip and smear it around the edge, then hit it with kicker. The result is a hard shell of CA to protect the wing tip from damage and it's invisible. Works great !

That's another good idea of protection,,I don't really care for tape,,except for the leading edge, and I use vinyl tape there.

I have just used cheapy packing tape, and I am amazed the "damage" the ol' girl can take. Makes me feel good.

Yes the CA forms a nice hard shell, but even though that helps avoid bits of foam coming off it might cause a bigger chunk to come off in a really rough hit. I noticed the wings I covered with tape and/or foil could really withstand hard hits. The tape/foil would actually bend or give a little in the impact.
Here's another one: I coated the fuse with epoxy diluted with alcohol. This gave a nice smooth surface that protected against scratches & foam bits. Does not offer much more rigidity though.
