I don't remember where I read it, but I filled in the cavity in the skis with hot glue and drilled out after for the axle. I got the proper diameter collars and installed the skis. I flew two batteries last weekend in about 10 degrees. The Cub took off great in the deep powder, just had to use a bunch of up elevator until it picked up speed. I did not do well landing in the soft snow, it just nosed over. I shot a bunch of landings and a few touch and go’s on a narrow area that had been groomed. It was most excellent. I hope to go again tomorrow, but the temps are supposed to be below zero and clear.

i filled mine in completely with epoxy and then drilled through them. they were pretty strong. if i hadnt nosedived it wouldnt have been a problem. grab some 1/8 wheel collars and use the rest of the included hardware. they work great with a little tweaking

Last time I made up a set I used the hot glue method with tubing inside. Worked ok but was way heavier than balsa and broke fairly easily. So this time I am trying something different to see if it works any better. I noticed they cracked right away the first time so I figured the heat from the hot melt glue weakened them....? Not sure but might as well have another way of doing things.
