do not paint econokote or any other type of covering! all it does is flake off and make a big mess. buying the covering in the color you want is a much better way to go and it wont cost you anything extra

It's hard surface, shiny plastic. Nothing will stick well.

OK this is what I'm thinking, I would like to cover my SC with Econokote type material. I was wanting the final color to be O/D green, olive drab. (no O/D in econokote) I would then like to put dirt and grime shadows on it. Anyone have any ideas?
I've looking around for threads about it but didn't find any that recommended painting econokote.

neither econokote or monokote offers an olive drab type color. ultracote has one but i used it before and wasnt happy with the results at all. it requires too much heat to apply. looks like what you might need is aerokote from sig manufacturing. they have an olive drab and their aerokote light has low activation temps and maximum shrinkage is at 200 degrees, compared to ultracote's maximum shrinkage at 335. i would give that a try sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmart.exe/MainMenuFV4.html?E+Siggood luck! admiral

make sure you practice a bit on some test foam before you hit the plane. these videos give you all the tips on where to place a few tiny key cuts to make the covering fit around compound curves whithout wrinkles. i followed these when covering my second cub and it turned out 20x better than the first. just make sure you take your time. rushing will ruin your job www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=NeCubFlyeradmiral
