Hi all OK so ive gone lipo, shame i wrecked my receiver board in the process and cant find a spare in any uk shop, but thats another story. been told as ive gone lipo i need to size down on prop as im using the original cans. GWS 10x6 Has been recomended but the local shop says its not a direct fit. can someone please advise or recommend a direct fit prop on the original motor (10x7 or 10x6) :Dthanks

just go grab your drill bits and move up the bits until you find the one that fits the SC shaft (3mm i think?) drill out the 10x6 to fit your shaft. works like a charm

Props, shafts, and adapters is one of the biggest PITA's in the industry after batteries and non-standard balance taps. Near as I can tell, almost nothing fits anything. Drill, cuss, and make do. The 10x6 GWS or the APCe thin electric (NOT slow fly) 10x5 are what you want. Thjere are a number of APCe clones out now-most have 3mm shaft holes.
GWS-drill it. APCe-has shims. Not sure which one (if any) work. You might have to drill a smaller shim.
Whack off the shaft and use a 4mm collet adapter. THEN you have to make the pop fit the collet!!!! ARGHHH!
BTW-stock shaft is 4mm.

also, you don't want apc sport props, like fly said use the apc E or thin props as the sport props are very heavy.

Yep 10x6DD drilled to 4 mm. works slick as can be. Some of the guys are using E flight 10X8 and getting away with it guess the Eflight prop is shaped a little different that the stock 10X8 so pulls less amps. Just what I hear & have seen posted , no on hand experience I use the 10X6 DD dlilled out . Jerry

To further clarify. This is for using the stock motor with 3S lipo. It's really not a bad power system for essentially no cost.
Using the stock 10x8 Cub prop pulls around 19A on 3S. This is WAY over spec for that system. Some get away with it by flying conservatively. If you are an aggressive flier you'll probably fry it with the stock prop. OTOH, you'll be happier with something else anyway.
If you've gone to a different brushless motor, this advice is NOT relevant and you absolutely need to find the proper power package for THAT motor. Each motor is different. IMO if you buy HC (read cheap Chinese) motors you CANNOT believe the specs they give you. De-rate by 20% and test for a hot motor after a 30 second bench test or 1 minute of WOT flying test. (A grossly over propped motor can fry completely within that 1 minute). The HC Towerpro + ESC packages often come with a prop that is too big and a motor mount that is really just an empty gearbox. It works but confuses the hell out of newbies.
Once you start playing with non-standard power packages you are on your own. You'll fry fewer electronics if you get a wattmeter, learn how to use it, and learn the basics of power systems. It is NOT simple, and takes some time to figure out. I'm kinda slow, took me MONTHS.
