I went to my favorite "temporary" airstrip...cloudy but fairly calm... The strip is cul-de-sac road in a new subdivision where the houses have not yet been built...needless to say its been a great place to fly....up until today lol!!! After greasing my second landing.. I taxied and prepared to take off again....Full Throtle....the poor girl suddenly took a hard right and just before I got any alltitute.... I crashed her head onto a raised curb!!!!...my battery box came flying out onto the road, my heart sank, and there was my battery box hanging out of the fuselage. Oh and of course....the raised curb is only 2 feet long..I couldn't miss it... lol....anywhere else and I would have been fine I had a friend with me.... so trying to look like a professional super cubber.... I simply pushed the battery box back inside and simply took off again!!! Yeah she flew allright....until the battery box dropped out again mid flight!!!!! lol Something to be said about changing you CG!!!!.... SCARY!!! I fought it and managed to get her down in on piece.... She is sitting on the kitchen table right now....I went epoxy crazy....Iam sure she will fly again....damm those Super Cubs are tough...... Sry no pictures....Iam not the type to take pictures all the time...but you could imagine..... ;D

Wow Degas that sounds like a scary flight. I can't believe you were able to get it down without anymore damage!!
You must be one heck of a pilot! Whew!
Sounds like you'll need to do a thorough inspection.....

in the future watch how much epoxy you use and where you use it. lots of epoxy in certain spots can throw off your COG

Thanks guys...Yeah I will definately be careful with the amount of epoxy used...but Iam happy to tell you she is out of the hanger and she was flown just the other day....Oh and I peformed my first inside loop.....got inverted for a nice little while....and the battery box stayed put!!!! I'am going flying this afternoon but before I do.... I think I will take Sams advice .... and "give her a thorough inspection!!!!"
