Has anyone put a water rudder on their floats. After numerous flights with my cub on floats I can see how this would be a very useful accessory. For one thing, when the battery quits, you can run the motor at just under half throttle and taxi back, but at those slow speeds the air rudder is not very effective. With a water rudder slow taxies would be easy.
I've see people run a push rod off the air rudder horn and curve around to a rudder on the left float, but it was a fairly permenant arrangement, and I still enjoy flying with wheels and want to be able to easily convert between the two.
Any thoughts???

I wonder if you could attach something to the air rudder that would reach down to the water? Like Velcro a popsicle stick to the side of the rudder. It may look lame, but It'd be a place to start your R&D.

Here is a youtube video of a guy that just used two Popsicle sticks. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vPMM2mgzW4Top connection is a nut and bolt system through the spring of the stock rear landing gear. The bottom connection is a small hole drilled in the Popsicle sticks at the spot the the rear gear axle hits. Slide the sticks on and screw the stock nut back on. Sturdy and removeable to go back to rear wheel. He has a forum post on it somewhere too, but could not find it. Good luck! Edit: Here's the post on rcgroups. Looks like he glued top to the spring, but a small nut and bolt system should work. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9830823#post9830823
