Hello all, Just thought I would announce my arrival. I had the Super Cub for my 52nd Birthday. I haven't been brave enough to take her out yet, but have been using the Clearview simulator to get accustomed to the controls. Has anyone else used the simulator route with any success? Just one thought. Is it possible to fly without the undercarriage attached? I thought that this would be a good idea for soft landings on long grass. Ian (Sussex, U.K.)

Welcome to the wonderful world of the SC!
I'm not to familair with the Clearview simulator and not to sure of how well it relates to the real thing. We purchased FSOne (its $99 and includes a radio like controller) and practice with the parkzone cub that's in there. It mimics the real flight tendencies of the SC almost exactly.
I put my kids in there with 4hrs of practice and they took the SC out and flew like a pro on thier first try.
As for the undercarriage, leave it on it rolls ok in short grass and you can add some larger wheels if you roll in taller grass, it's a great plane.

The Sim route it an excellent idea for training thumbs. It'll save you a lot of grief though it isn't the same as real flying.
Prop breakage without the LG is more likely. The stock wheels on grass are inadequate. Put 2 1/2-3" on there before you even try. Making the tail wheel a tad bit larger helps also. More info in the forum.
There are a LOT of suggestions for improving and reinforcing your Cub before you even have that first flight. Do some reading in the forums to sift them out. ALL the questions you have and more you can't think of yet are already answered there.
Good luck on that first outing. If you can find someone with flying experience to get her up and trimmed the first time that will help considerably. A new plane's first few seconds are often it's most difficult.

Thank you for the replies and advice. I have purchased the E Sky Simulator package. Although it is shipped with the FMS simulator I can't configure the controller to work with this software. I therefore downloaded the Clearview simulator and the E Sky controller works fine. The downloadable demo doesn't last long and so you have to register and pay about £16 ($28). The Clearview simulator is photorealistic and quite impressive. I downloaded the 'Super Cub' to use with it. I will stay on the simulator for a while yet and then wait for a wind less day. Ian
