I was out today in the 15+mph wind. The plane was flying perfectly for 10 minutes. I was powering up very high then turning down the throttle and mostly gliding. Well I was up very high but I could still see the shape of the plane and I was lowering the throttle to bring her down a bit when I noticed the plane was just a dot. I guess a thermal just grabbed her, that happened once before. No shape but I was following her direction and steering her, then she went beyond the cloud and into blue sky and disappeared ... forever ... until I FOUND her between houses about 2000 feet from where I was standing. It took 40 minutes to find her. I never expected to find her. If I did find her, I expected the damage would be total. The prop was broken and the motor shaft was bent (I have replacement shafts, but already bent it back straight), that's it. She's ready to fly again. Boy was I lucky.
