Has anyone had any experience using Ultracote covering from Hangar 9? im not that thrilled with my paint job (the paint peels when the foam flexes) and i was wondering if anyone has used this before and what the results were
thanks!

This is NOT an area I'm very good at but I think Ultracote is a higher temp covering suitable for balsa. Might melt the Cub. A brief search seems to support that.
I think you should be looking at Econocote (or similar). I have used that on foam but do not have much experience. See-I don't know everything.

i was reading about it and it starts to shrink at 200 degrees. i read in the earlier post "covering" that people had used both econokote and ultracote with success on the cub. because youre using an iron and not a heat gun i would think that it wouldnt melt it...but i guess i better do some digging around
thanks

According to Hangar 9 it starts to stick at 220, and shrinking starts at 300 with max at 350. No idea where the Cub melts but that seems hot. www.hangar-9.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1115Here's the Econkcote page: www.monokote.com/econokote.htmlSeems like a lot of people don't particularly like to use EconoKote but agree that its' the film for foam. Only temp data was this from Tower Hobbies: [Temperature range: Attaching to foam (activating the glue): 205°F (105°C)] fly

i read on RCgroups that you dont even have to touch the iron on the covering when you get over the initial stick and just holding it above the foam will give you the same shrinking effect without the directly applied heat
im torn because i hear that ultracote is much easier to work with but econokote is advertised as foam-safe. ultracote isnt but yet people have used it on the cub
do you know of any online sites that sell econokote? i cant find any...maybe i have to go to hobbytown
