Hello all, I had just purchased a new Super cub. I have it put together but have not flown it yet I think I will wait until spring, or take it to Florida when we go there in Feb. This is my first RC airplane. I have also been learning to fly an RC helicopter, wow huge learning curve there! I thought the Cub would maybe be another outlet to persue that might be alittle easyer, Although I haven't given up on the Helli. I have always wanted to fly RC and with the battery's now days I have more options as to where I can fly etc . My wife thinks at age 50 I am going through my second childhood but hey I'm having fun! I love this forum and have gotten lots of tips on here already. soooooo howdy everyone, Steve W.

Welcome Steve! Tell the wife there are much much older folks with these fangled gadgets. I asked mine.....have you ever seen me "play" with one of my toys and have a sad look on my face? Hope you enjoy it!
What heli are you learning on?

From what I understand that is the hardest heli to fly let alone learn on. I almost bought one myself and was told not to for many many reasons....mostly learning reasons. It must be a handfull? Did you set the blade pitch? What radio are you using? Kevin

My wife thinks at age 50 I am going through my second childhood but hey I'm having fun. Welcome Steve! As you know, the "first childhood" is too short. We can't seem to experience everything by the end of high school. So glad that we are allowed some make-up time after our own kids grow up.

Hello there again Kevin, the blade pitch I let as set at the factory, and I use the stock radio that came with the Helli. I have a set of flat bottom blades on and can get it into a hover, now that I have the trims and the gyro set ( which took several trys). I had a cheaper Helli a walkera 4 that thing I couldn't do anything with! It was like it was possessed or something I sold it . Seems most Helli's the size as my blade are harder to learn because of their small size. But the larger Helli's are so much more expensive. Once I did get my Helli to hover I felt like I had just learned to ride a two wheeled bike for the first time, was pretty proud of myself. Now to fly it in a figure 8 etc...... I am a long way from that yet . But I am taking baby steps, read a book I bought , practice on my flite sim. Considering I am doing this all on my own I think I am doing ok ;D

Hey Kevin...another note about my Helli.....Welll it seems like learning to fly one of these is kinda like golf. You go out one day and have an aw some game and think hey I got this game down, until you go out next time and find your ummmm well horrible at it! Tryed to get my Helli to hover today and it was all over. Gosh I sure hope I dont have this much bad luck flying my new super cub.....All I want to do is fly. Also parts for a Helli seem very expensive compared to the cub $15.00 for a set of "cheep" blades for the Helli As apposed to a few bucks on the SC. Sorry just venting I guess sometimes think maybe I should have not gotten the Helli.

Hey Steve, Well golf is not a good comparison for me....just picked it up right away. SinceI was young my dad took me out but only a few times. Now as an adult I tried it and got bored....was quite easy. I had no problem getting a 36 my first time as an adult.....34 next time, and a 33 then I sold the clubs... However trying to make my brain tell my fingers that the right stick does.....and the left does....and to do it all at the same time....brain fart! I can fly any plane with ease....heli's seem much more sofisticated so far. I ordered myself a Trex450 for xmas so once it gets here I am sure I will be talking to you about the basics.
I think you will have no problems flying the SC. It is by far the best begginers plane hands down. It will float around with ease once it is up. Remember not to go full tilt right away....float and learn.
You have the G4 right. Try going to knife edge forum and downloading the SC from them and practice it. It will help greatly.
