Has anyone else been flying their cub up high in the more constant wind and in the same position. This only works on the windier days. It's like flying a remote control kite! I've told people that's what it was, you really can't tell. Except I fly up wind in case there is a problem, but people don't notice.
I control the position with the rudder, not the ailerons. Moving the ailerons looses more altitude (yes way more great control). I control the distance away from me with the elevator trim. I keep it all the way up to just a little less. I also slow the engine to some more than idle.
I've been doing this for a couple of days, say 4 hours of flight time and it's very relaxing. I have 3-2400mah lipo's and get 18-34 mins/flight using this low throttle.
I was always using a 10-6, but yesterday I tried an 11-4.7 and I think it worked even better as long as I kept the throttle low. When I landed, I made sure the throttle was off so I didn't break the prop. The motor and battery was the coolist it's ever been right after a flight, barely warm.
Sometimes I take off the landing gear so the cub is the lightest, so less throttle is needed. I land in grass so no problem.
Full moon tonight, might try it out, no lights.
