I plan on flying tomorrow morning and the stock prop on my SC has a nick. It is not bad but want it to be safe to fly. Can I fly it this way or should I replace it?

Small nick out near the outer 3rd without stress to the main plastic should be OK. Large nick especially near the inner part and/or stress bend in the plastic might be enough to make it break at high RPM. Certainly don't fire it up near anyone's body parts. I read about someone CA gluing broken props together! Trying to learn to fly and tired of buying props all the time. WOW! Live dangerously. fly

From original topic: I plan on flying tomorrow morning and the stock prop on my SC has a nick. It is not bad but want it to be safe to fly. Can I fly it this way or should I replace it? Hi guys, really new to RC and this forum. My very first flight of my SC was with an instructor Saturday and I went like a dream. Good to have help and got to understand "lifting the wing" when flying toward me. Prop got nicked on the rough landing strip and since mine came with a spare. I want to replace it BUT can't find a way to remove the spinner. I've searched many forums but SC & Spinner draws a blank. Anyone know how or where the answer is please? Regards retiredbri UK

The first time you pull it off will be difficult due to being glued on. But give it some prying and tugging and you will get it free.

Mine is hard every time I pull it off.
I keep thinking I should leave it off, but I would rather have the cone there to take the brunt of the force when I plant the nose in the ground. I suppose the shaft still takes it, but not as bad.

Took a look at your handy work-nice looking Cub. That said if you are still dorking it on a regular basis my personal opinion is to lose the spinner and get a prop saver: www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=V504514&pid=V916781A short shaft with a prop saver will save you some $$ on props and motor/shaft damage. That said a Cub is on the borderline for prop savers. Double up on the O-ring or make better ones out of thick surgical tubing you cut your own from. I also think stock props are kind of expensive and low quality. For more info do some reading at the posting I gave you previously. fly
