Hello all. This is my 1st post here. Been lurking for a few months now gathering all the info. I could for doing my 1st aileron mod on the SC.
I had read where several folks had flattened the wing (to take out or at least reduce the dihedral to make the ailerons more effective) by just placing weight on it overnight etc. I had severe doubts that this would work do to the "elasticity" of EPP foam as it is even more "springy" than the average Styrofoam.
Sure enough, I tried this yesterday. I even slightly heated both sides of the wing (right next to the center point where they start angling upward) with a hair dryer and then placed lots of weight on it to where it was perfectly flat. I left this for 24 hrs. and just checked it. Boing! No effect at all! There's just as much dihedral as before.
Any recommendations? I don't want to do the "shorten the struts" thing as I do not want any struts on the plane at all. That's how I have the stock wing right now....no struts but with a CF tube in it. Works great! Actually, when I look at it the stock wing with CF tube it has almost no dihedral left at all, but just a tiny bit. Hmmm..maybe I'll just put my ailerons on that one and use the new one as my new "stock" wing???
I'd still like to hear any suggestions from you all for getting a perfectly flat wing if possible for future experiments. Thanks very much in advance.

Hi Bryan. I think the way to get a flat wing would be to flatten the wing and then glue your carbon rod or rods into to the wing. Once set it should stay flat. I wish i had done this when i did my aileron upgrade. Good luck and let us know how she flys

Thanks SCC, I think you are right on the money with that one. That's exactly what I'll try. I'll be happy to report back when all is finished and let you know how it all worked out.
