WOW! This thing is amazing! I've been flying a yellow bee for several months and that that was cool. The SC is a whole nother ball of wax.
After all the preflight checks I was ready to go. I felt like I was on a first date, a bit apprehensive but confident. The flying field was a nice 12-18" tall stand of winter wheat so unless it was a nose in crash I should be okay. The wind was varying from 0 - 6mph.
I gave it full throttle, my buddy gave it a toss, and away she went! Climbing, climbing, climbing...now I need to turn. I remained calm and recalled all the posts about going 'light' on the controls. I throttle back to 50%, which I maintained almost the entire time, slowly moved the rudder control to the left and she began to turn. I did about 6 big cirlcles. It was beautiful!
My confidence level was starting to rise a little so I proceeded to try and make the circles to the right. Again, it went great! I did some figure 8's and gave it a whirl at tighter turns. That got a little scary a couple of times as I let the wingtip get too low but I managed to correct it.
I climbed up about 150-200' and thought I try a loop. Well, that ended up being a vertical climb of about 20' and then a stall. She nosed down, but since height was my friend I was able to let her glide down a bit and get back the control.
I finally decided to try out a 'landing' in the wheat. I came around a couple times and it just didn't feel right so I made another large circle. I came in left to right, got about 10' off the ground and reduced the power to 25%. She came down a little quicker than I expected, but with a touch of up elevator, she nosed up slightly and sat down in the wheat. Yeehaw!
I'm hooked and ready for another flight. After waiting over a month to fly my SC, it was worth the wait. It's raining today so no flight time today. Oh well, I already got my $100 worth out of her! ;D ;D ;D
