I'm planning on an aileron mod and have been looking at all the different posts. I only have two SC planes in my hanger (One of them is the build project, the other stock) so my budget is not an issue. I have been considering a single servo / linkage as one way of doing this mod.
I have 3 Hitec HS-81's for this build. Two will replace the original rudder / elevator servos and I was planning on the third to put in the bottom side of the wing centered over the battery compartment with pushrods running to Dubro 90 degree Bell cranks. From the bell cranks a short pushrod to the control horns.
My other option would be to make this mod as pretty as possible so I would consider buying and burying two HS-55's in the wing and using coating vs paint to hide the channels and servos.
Nearly forgot to mention, the build project is starting out with an empty plane. I have just purchased an Airtronics RDS8000 Rx/Tx with a receiver to install in the new plane. Along with a Rimfire 35-30-950 Brushless motor and 25 amp Brushless ESC. I have Dubro 2 1/2" wheels and 1" Sullivan tail wheel.
I would be interested in hearing any of your opinions pros and/or cons on any portion of the build. One other question would be about replacing

Hello Joel,
I have done it both ways. Personally I like the dual better for a few reasons. 1. It looks better. 2. Flaps are possible. 3. you can set each servo's endpoints individually and their throws as well. 4. Sub trimming is made easier. 5. I dont like Y harnesses....personal pref. 6. It's easier to come in with one aileron working than none at all....should one go bad.
Sounds like you go your ducks in a row for this build. May I suggest beefier landing gear? Check out the LG section for some simple mods.
Make sure to rebalance your plane when done. (just a reminder)
Kevin
PS. Make sure the BEC in your new ESC will handle 4 servo's.

Thanks for the tips, guess the prettier system with 2 servo's will be my choice. Glad you mentioned the landing gear upgrade, I had been considering it, just wasn't sure which ones and method of mounting. Although I like the looks of the 'Stearman" gear the size tells me it would require some serious modifications. Guess I'll keep looking. www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGDA6&P=0Stearman Landing gear URL, not sure how to make it a link.

That LG is gonna be huge. A .91 plane is about an 8 pound plane. Try looking at the eflite mini pulse xt LG. Adding some skirting will dress them up nicely. There are other planes that offer nice LG as well. I am not sure which other than the MPXT will fit.

I still have those on my SC. One of my favorite mods because I no longer have to deal with bent landing gear, plus it still has some flex so that if you come in a little hard it will absorb some shock.
