I saw your RCgroups posts on this Kevin. How much is all that extra carbon rod adding to the weight? What size rod are you using? I see you stuck some rods thru the front center area of the fuse along its length on each side and in the center? This to prevent nose-in breaks? Something has to give on a bad nose-in, no? I'm stilling 'planning' my stryker build. I have all the parts, but I haven't decided how much carbon reinforcement I'm going to add. I will probably add maybe 1 or 2 rods but also glass the fuse using the .6oz FG and WB poly. dave mc

Kevin,
Looks like a solid build. Nice placement, nice reinforcement, good components. Most of the Strykers I've seen look pretty ratty because folks just fly the heck out of them and they just don't quit. Yours is going to be smokin'. Looks like a lot of fun.

davemac2- I am not sure how much weight it added. I suppose at 1500W who really cares. It can add a lb for all I care.....lol. I will weight it tomorrow with everything in it and let you know what the AUW is for sure. Too much installed now to know. Maybe I will weigh the next build as I go. I will build another one for sure. It was a blast doing.

Well I stripped it down and weighed the fuse with wooden elevons, hs81mg servo's in it and linkages hooked up to elevons, and battery strap and of course the million dollars worth of cf in it. It weighed 13.8ozs. Not too bad considering. I used a bunch of epoxy, tape, wood, and cf to get this weight. It is going to be heavier in a few minutes. One of my building partners is stopping by and we plan to cover it in cf vinyl on bottom. I may paint the top...not sure yet. The wooden elevons were made with TE material and laminated with 1/32 walnut. I may do the other side as well. I need to epoxy finish them tonight. I was going to wait until after maiden to do a bunch of this stuff but the weather is saying..take your time. PS I needed to strip it to get it covered anyway....didn't do it for kicks..

what is TE material?
Also what size carbon rods did you use?
so are you going to use a 4s for this? I'm assuming at least that if you are talking about 1kW+! ;D

TE is Trailing edge material.
I used a mixture of CF rods. I used mostly hollow rods that were .188" OD.
I am using a TP3850 4s lipo capable of 96A continuous and 192A bursts for 30 sec.
I am using a Castle Creations 125A esc with a CCBEC for rx power. I have it set to 6v.
2 HS-82MG servo's with alum. arms. Golden clevises with CF pushrods.
MEDUSA opto isolator for inbetween the esc and rx to reduce noise made by the esc.
MEGA 16/25/2 motor
6mm NEU gold connectors for all motor and esc/battery connections.
