Hey y'all,
I just bought my first HZ Super Cub and wow what an airplane. Altough I flew RC when I was a teenager (i'm 29 now) I haven't flown RC with the exception of my Havoc Heli in quite some time.
My first flight with the Super Cub ended in a tree because against my better judgement I picked a field that was too small in my eagerness to go fly. After trying everything under the sun to get her down, I ended up using a slingshot, a sinker and spiderwire that another SC owner used and posted online to get my SC down. After several hours with a slingshot and some patience I had my plane in hand again.
Now a more humbled flier, I used google earth to research a better field to fly in. I found a field that was 1500 ft by 1500 ft and my last two outings have been spectacular. After my tree experience I removed the wing truts and cosmetic wheel "struts." I also used clear duct tape to protect all the edges of the wing and tail surfaces. It makes a great patch and does not detract from the appearance of the aircraft. After about 3 hours of flying so far i've been able to do dirt strip takeoffs and landings as well as touch and gos. In the air she is such a stable plane and climbs very efficiently.
I love this Plane ;D....i'm going to HobbyTown today to get bigger wheels and a bigger tailwheel. I'm also anxious to try the aerial video some folks have put up on youtube with their SC.
