How much weight can a stock SC carry without greatly affecting it?

I tossed a 8 oz lead weight in mine just to see it's affects one day and it took off well, and flew well. It was very noticable that there was extra weight in it. It handled the wind great with it. It shortened the flight from 15 minutes to about 9 minutes. It was with a 8 cell HZ pack and stock motor and it was about 20 degrees F at the time I did it. I am going to play with bombs and rockets this summer on mine. I have no doubt you could add over 12ozs with the 8 cell. With lipo however you can boost your payload because of the lighter battery and added power. I haven't flown with a nimh pack in some time now because I went lipo in the cub. Make sure struts are in place whenever bringing up weight. I also tape the underside of the wing with scotch extreme tape for added support. Have fun with it!

I'm running a 7 cell nimh right now. I've done some reinforcing of the wing already, and the struts are in place (although I replaced the screws with velcro for easier removal) I'm not quite ready to carry extra weight on the plane yet. I've been flying for a few weeks now and I'm beginning to become more comfortable with flying patterns other than a high oval. Right now I'm into loops and low level flying so I can enjoy watching the plane fly past me. Once I pick up the aerial drop module, I'll start carrying things up (other than the parachute guy and streamer bombs) Thanks! Scott

I was able to vidoe tape our Main Street project after loading a "camera" under the belly of my SC just behind the battery compartment. I used my old Audiovox 6600 cell phone (pocket PC) which has good on board memory to store the MPEG4 video format. I will try to load the video on U tube and place a link for it on here. The phone weigh's a little over 8oz. and the SC flew just fine. I hand launched it to give it a head start and ended up recording about 5 min. of aeriel video. It was awsome. The SC would really surprise you with its versatility.
Take care.

By the way for the post above I usedf the stock battery and stock everything, just had to put back the wing struts to handle the heavy load.
