I've been using the Hobbico Mark II for about 3 months now on the stock 7 cell, 8 cell and some 3cell 1320 Lipo's and it works great. I can charge two batteries at the same time except for the Lipo's, I have only one balancer. For 50 bucks you can't go wrong. ;D

It is truely the best field charger out there IMO. Glad to hear you like it.

I've had a bad experience with that charger. It has killed 2 of my NiMh packs due to overcharging at ~1C charge rate. I don't know if it is my particular charger being defective, but it seems to have delta peak detection issues at the higher charging rates.

I have 2 of them for well into 3 years now. They have been flawless for me. Kevin

Do you have to specify lipo/nimh with that charger?

I had two batteries go bad with overcharging also. The only thing that I could figure out is that I was using a solar charging system that is hooked up to my motor home and the volts were too high and causing it to over charge. Make sure that you are not using the charger over 13.5 volts. I haven't had a problem after I stopped using the solar charger

I'm charging my batts up for the first time and have a question concerning how do I know when the charge is completed? I know that when the Hobbico switches from Peak Detect charge to trickle charge that it beeps 7 times and the amber light flashes (I'm charging 7 cell and 8 cell NIMH batts). If I'm not around when the beeps go off, how do I know that the charger has stopped at the peak detect and switched to trickle charge? Does the light continue to flash?

Yes the lights will flash. If charging, it will be a constant on light.

I did notice that these chargers do false peak from time to time. I use them primarily on small 7a 12V field batteries so that may have something to do with it also. Not sure. I still use them everyday regaurdless.

So far my experience has been excellant (thanks Kevin for posting a recommendation for the Hobbico). Very easy to set up and use. I like the fact that it's really 2 independant chargers so you can have 2 batts on at the same time. Very functional field charger for the price.

It is by far the easiest charger to use that I have owned. Just push a button one, two, or three times.....hmmmm hard to go wrong. Glad you like it!
