There are a couple guys that fly at one of the feilds I fly at that have a bunch of super cubs too. One of the cubs has ailerons with stock parts! he just took the servo off his rudder (taped up the rudder) and hooked it up on top of his wing near the CoG, with control rods going out into a V to his ailerons!
his battery was low when he showed me, but it still worked amazingly. I know it's still 3ch and not as good as a full 5ch replacement, but iv'e never thought of doing that.
still think stock with lipos, and control horns at 3rd position is better though...

That's an interesting concept. Any chance of getting a few photos?
Another approach would be to add two servos out on the wings by the ailerons, and then run a Y connector from the receiver and run both aileron servos off the same channel - should work.

The wing is 36'' but i would think that wing would work well as a aileron upgrade on the cub. And its cheap.

I'm buildin that MM J-3 right now. The wing goes together in just a couple hours, if you're slow like me ;D. Covering adds another hour or so. It is a little bigger than the SC wing I think; has only about 1/2" of dihedral. Here's a pic This is the fuse covered

Wow Very cool. How do you wrap the wings? I was thinking about buying a balsa arf kit, but seeing as how it took me 9 hours to build a 3 hour plane, I don't know if I am ready ;D
How many hours is that supposed to take?

Covering with plastic film is not really difficult, just a bit tedious. This is only my second covering job. The film has a heat sensitive adhesive, so you use a "covering iron" to apply it. More info can be found on all the popular RC forums. Keep in mind the covering job will not disguise a poor framing job, it only highlites any imperfections. Gee guess how I know that? M
