I stripped the stock electronics from my Mixmaster and put them in my cub. In doing so I added ailerons and a brushless motor. I cut 12 inch ailerons starting where the wing goes flat from the end. I put the servos 6 inches in and used packaging tape to secure the wire. They are held in using some thin plastic-bottle like material and I added a thin coat of silicone all the way across. The silicone works very well and allows the aileron full motion with very little resistance. It's pretty sloppy, but i've seen worse Pics- Video- www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOFZ80gHAOsOverall, the performance isn't very good. I think it's because the wing is so thick at the beginning which leads to excellent lift but doesn't let enough air flow past the ailerons to do much. It would help if I made them larger. My next mod will be to convert the aileron servos to drop bombs ;D

If you make the ailerons wider, about 2" wide and take them all the way to the end of the wing you'll get better performance.
Yours looks a lot better than mine do though.

05prostock, could you elaborate on "thin plastic-bottle like material and I added a thin coat of silicone all the way across". I just finished my brushless mod and am now ready for the aileron mod. I like to use stuff other than what you can buy and this sounds very interesting. I have more time than $.

How would I do that, what do I need to buy to get ailerons to work?
