To everyone:Hi,I'm slowly starting to beef up my super cub.I live in western Washington. So it could be a month or more till I'm not @ work and it's not raining or windy,I wont be flying for quite awhile. So in that down time it's time to reinforce the S/C.QUESTION:Where do I need to beef it up.The battery box??the tail??Basically I need to know exactly what are the Cub's weak points.I posted a similar thread a few pages back, and great response.Thanks.But I'm looking for more detailed ares of weakness, and tips on the fixes. And why not cover the entire fuse, and wings with a good heavy duty clear packing tape?I had a little firebird phantom,I did just that it flew great, foam never ever broke where the tape was.I don't suggest putting anything on the actual flight control surfaces, these are critical SAFETY OF FLIGHT items that should be left alone,or am I wrong,is there a why to reinforce the flight control surfaces??Rudder and Elevater.I imagine you can put a little packing tape on the bull nose (L/E) of your VERT STAB, and your HORZ STABI'm planing on carbon fiber strips .057"x.177"x what ever length I cut them to.On the fuse tail join area 2 each on both sides.CA the battery box in and put tape to reinforce the entire wing box area. after C/F strip and CA reinforcing.I will put A good quality clear packing tape over every bite of the entire fuse, the ends of tape will extend a good inch or so beyond the fwd nose section, this will be folded over the motor mount area for extra support.I might use the same size C/F strips on the over wing area 8" long one @ the L/E and one @ the T/E.Glue them down with CA,and then tape. The entire wing will be wrapped tight in clear packing tape. The wing tips will be doubled or even tripled.I will use stock struts, with fishing line running along side of strut, just as a redundancy. How should the antenna wire be ran?Just kinda hanging down FWD of the HORZ STAB?Or put through the 2 tiny holes on the upper tip of the VERT STAB??Should the motor gears be lubed at all? if my little plan sounds good,or if you guys feel I should alter,or just plane abort my reinforcement ideas all together, please let me know.
