can you just buy a battery box replacement?
I clipped my landing gear on a fence and broke my battery box.
can you just buy the box? Or does it come with an empty fuselage?

I shattered the front of the box, there is no where for the landing gear to fit in.
I also perfectly severed the black lead coming off the motor and busted the prop.
It was too windy, like 20 mph gusts, but i hadn't flown in a while so i said screw it and still launched. I clipped a fence trying to come in for a landing. 6 inches higher and I would've been golden.

Not that it will help your situation jrod, but just sent an email to horizon, asking why the battery cage is not listed as a replacement part. You know they'd sell a few.

Well...got a reply from Horizon. As expected..this was the reply.
" Bill, Hello and thank you for your question. We do sell the battery doorfor the super cub as a separate item. If you are referring to thebattery compartment then that is an item we do not have a separate item. The reason we did not do that is because it is encased inside thefuselage and to damage that part, the fuse would have to have to incur alot of damage to break that part. We are sorry if that is the part youare looking for, but getting the complete fuse is the only way toreplace that part. Here are the part numbers for the door and fuse. Hopethis helps and have a great day. HBZ7112 - Battery Door w/Latch: Cub - Price: $1.99 HBZ7185 - Bare Fuselage w/o Receiver: Cub - $18.89 Thank You,Dennis DavenportHorizon Hobby Consumer Sales800-338-4639 "
Maybe an email campaign would convince them that this is not always the case? Here's his address.. ddavenport@horizonhobby.com

Someone in here built one out of balsa or ply. The plastic one doesn't hold all that well anyway. If you did that much damage why not just buy a new fuse. I can almost guarantee a new box will cost half the fuse price anyway.

All it would take is a part number, inventory entry, and packaging. Increase production slightly, and they'd have it. Not all battery box damage causes fuse damage, and with some of the mods being done to accomodate different batteries, only way to revert back would be a new fuse. Not only that...most of us are well seasoned in fuse repairs!! Just figure as it is an installed part, could easily be packaged and sold.

Hello, i juste want to say that before a crash of my super cub, my fuse is ok, but the battery's compartment is very brocken. (battery is heavy and during the schok, cinetic energy of them can destroy the box)
So, i 'm a little bit disappointed to buy a fuse just only to replace this compartment !
Thank you for the answer cause i was looking for this item for a long time.

Yes, Georges, even after all these years they still will not sell us a battery box without buying a new fuselage too. You can buy even the tiniest part of a HobbyZone SC - but not the battery box. It defies all reason.

Jrod, any chance you could post a picture of the damage? Is the battery box still usable? If so, it's possible we could suggest a fix. ' A picture is worth a thousand words', etc....

Helloooooooo, Chris! Jrod's crash was more than three years ago . . . I reckon he must have bought a new box by now. Was your question really intended for Georges? ;D
