Well.My son and I maidened his new/used comander.Needless to say the wind has a bit more effect on the Commander than the SC.My son as lying as it started to wonder, than handed it to me.My eyesight failed me as I thought it was getting closer,but was going farthe.After about 45 minutes trying to dislodge it from a tree,in the rain , it finally came done.The only damage is the elevator came free from the rudder.My question is ,can we reapir that with tape,or do we need to get a new tail assembly.Any help would be helpful. P.S. My son now has the RC airplane bug.I feel my wallet getting lighter............ ;

There isin't any part of my SC that hasn't been glued, taped, pinned or otherwise put back together. If it's a small seem that is needed, hot glue works great. If it's a large seem ( snapped into wing etc), epoxy works best because of weight. I am always amazed at how this plane flies after a devastating crash. After a major repair, you may have to do some extreme "triming", but work at it(balancing, leveling. bending), but it'll fly again. Rolie

I'm confused, did you damage the commander or the SC?

I'm sorry mac, I misread your post. Mine is a Super Cub. Just like everything I get involved in, forget all that I said in my previous post. Rolie

I have a commander2 also. The rudder hinge will tear with use after time. My girlfriend is a RN and got me some dermabond tape that can also be purchased at hobby shops as hinge tape. It' a real b.... to deal with but gives a flexible joint that will stretch when pulled. I did this for the first or second repair and then just decided to get new tails for the $10 so I always have one on hand. The commander is a great plane but being a 2 channel with low power you must know wind direction and always keep it up wind or it's gone.

jt01 , you are absolutely right about the Commander being gone when it is down wind. Went on a couple "nature walks" after the last 2 flights

"dermabond tape"
jt01, thanks for the info.
The repair sb352's son and I attempted on the rudder hinges with duck tape didn't hold up to the pressure. It would work for a time but fail after a few flights.

Sorry guys. I didn't realize it was the hinge that was broken. There is another tape people use from the medical industry called Blenderm. It might be the same as Jim mentioned. You could also use CA hinges. www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXK110&P=0I have read that you can also use the material from a floppy disc for a quick fix.

Paul you're right. It is blenderm. Dermabond is a medical super glue I just got the two confused.
