I put the skis on last night. I purchased larger collars (1/8) at the hobby shop, and that made it pretty easy. I hope to test them before the snow goes away here in south central Alaska. I also had great luck putting Trexler balloon tires on the cub. They have a wooden hub that was easy to modify, and they look like the real tundra tire. Don't work worth a darn in snow though.

Congrats on the skis. We rarely get snow here in NC. Btw, Where'd you get the trexlar wheels? What size are they? Could you post a picture?
Thanks

The Trexler Balloon Wheels came from the local hobby shop. A link to their one site is www.trexlerballoonwheel.com I used the size 6. They look great and roll over rough terrain well. Time will tell how durable they are. I will take a picture when I put them back on the plane. I want to try the skis first. I am new to this board, so I know am off topic. I will post under landing gear in a week or so.

thanks for the link!
What did you do for the tail wheel? Do you have a mini skid or did you just leave the tail wheel on?

I have been thinking about that. Many of the real cub drivers that I know don't seem worry about a tail ski unless they are dealing with deep snow operations. Even with the big tires I think I will wait for a while and see if I need to make further changes. So far I have done more looking at it than flying it. I would be out right now but the wind just came up and older daughter has volleyball.

Wow, no one has posted here in months. What is up with that. I have not been flying in a month now myself. It is dark when I get home. We have about 6 inches of snow on the ground and I am itching to break out the ski's.

ha, ha... A frosty morning. But now that I think about it, just might work. I made a set of snow skis around April and figured we would get at least 1 more decent snow, not a chance. Longing to try them out all summer and now that I'm brushless with Li Po it should be fun. Come on snow or heavy frost!

ok how are you guys making the skis work. I bought the same skis and im having a hard time making them strong enough so the don't just flob around and what does filling the gaps with epoxy or watever do to help the skis.
