Hey guys, I've taken my cub out on gws floats a couple of times, running stock gear with the 9.6 volt battery, and i just can't get her in the air from water. I followed everyone's builds, and everything seems happy. I'm just wondering if maybe the motor is starting to go or what. Any thoughts?

done with the gws floats, gonna either make my own with the diy build sheet, or see what else is out there that is a 1 piece float.

If your floats are getting up “on step” and running in a straight line they should be able to break free of the water with a little up elevator. If the floats don’t run like this the weight may not be balanced properly. You want it to balance at about ½” ahead of the step. If the floats are running ok you might have either a damaged motor or a weak battery. If you have a voltmeter the 7 cell battery should be at about 10 volts and warm when fully charged.

i was running the 8 cell, i found a much better and lighter float than the gws ones. I just figger i added too much weight trying to keep the darn things from leaking.

There is a local guy here with a CNC foam cutter that does awesome work. If the ones you have don't do the trick he can make a custom set and he's not exspensive.

He originaly made them but for a smaller plane. I was in a "must have floats right now" mood so I modified them by adding foam to enlarge them that I cut from the super cub packing material! I epoxied them together and covered them with Econocote
