Greetings all! this is my first post here on the SC page- I dont have my SC in yet (mailed 3/20/07... ) I am considering building floats for my cub- i read a post on RCgroups where a guy built a set of 17 inch floats for a slo v using foam board bought at walmart... soooo i bought some elmers foam board, and want to make a correct size pattern... what size float has worked well with the SC? (length) I would like to make them as scale as possible, but would like some imput as to what has worked... (scale is sometimes not possible...). oh- one note on 'scale as possible'... im referencing size only, thereby giving it an awsome 50ft away 30 mph look! not up close and standing still... ;D I have a PZ P-51 and the duct tape, foam, and clear packing tape look bad till its flying in the air! oh by the way duct tape works great as a battery hatch The DIY floats look a tad long, but it could be from the angle of the picture... givin that its looking like they should be 22-24 inches or so long? TIA! Mark K

I have a PZ p-51. Horrible design for the battery cover on a belly lander. Great plane though.
Floats are supposed to be 80% as long as the fuse. The step needs to be just barely infront of the balance point and the floats need to extend in front of the prop about an inch or two.

Thanks! Ill use that to start! love the pics of the cubs on floats! I love this cub- really have been enjoying doing touch and go's (sort of...) its fun because i can confidently fly it low and slow, unlike my mustang- which to date has been high and fast :-) AND I love the drop module!
if i ever get done, ill post some pics... im in alaska and we still have about a month till the ice goes out....
