Hi everyone, I am sort of new to this hobby :) so I need some direction on where to find certain things. I read all the posts about bigger tires and I have put on the main wheels, but I lost the tail wheel nut for the new tailwheel and I can't find it. Does anyone know where I can get another nut or is there an improvement over that silly PLASTIC nut that I can do?

i used some dubro collars instead of nuts because my threads were chewed up. if you want you could use a 4-40 nut but i found the collar easier because i could leave the wheel lose and not worry about it binding or it falling off. here is a link to something similar to what i used.

duck9191,
I think you may have the main and tail wheels switched. A 5/32" Dura-Collar would work on the main gear, as the diameter of the wire strut is 1/8" (4/32") and a Nylon Insert 4-40 lock nut works great there.
The tail wheel strut is 1/16" diameter, and my 1/16" Du-Bro Dura-Collars are too big. I have not found a collar or other nut for the tail wheel. I hope I never loose the original.
Has anyone found a solution?
Alan

I took a piece of plastic tubing from a model kit spru and cut it about 1/4 inch long. Then I drilled a small hole through it, and it will thread onto the tailwheel axle. Holds great.
