I don't know if you can tell in the pics or not, but I actually recessed a piece of 1/16" plywood for the base. The support is just some piano wire..

I like it.
From a short distance it would be difficult to see the additional wire, helping to keep the look of the cub. Do you find that it adds strength?

Yeah, you can't even tell the wire is there unless you look for it. Also, like you said it sorta keeps the original look of the cub. BTW, it adds plenty of strength. Landing is my only shortcoming when flying, so I beefed it up. I got tired of having to straighten it out all the time. Haven't bent it since. I am very happy with the mod.

Looks real good ace! I like the design a lot. Is the tape or shrink wrap holding it together near the wheels?

It is super heavy duty shrink wrap... I figured it was better to do that instead of soldering.

Yes indeed it is a good way of doing it. I always use some ca as well to add strength. Kevin

Shrink wrap with ca glue might also be a good way to attach the wires together.

Thats how I build most of my pushrods. It is very solid and reliable.

Hey great idea.I am about to do the same thing on mine but I was going to take the plastic skirts off of it and use the last hole on the battery box where the skirt use to be and screw it on there.
