Can you elaborate how you strenghtened the mount? I am planning on doing the exact same mod using the same gear and I'm afraid that one more bad landing will destroy my fuse. I want to ensure it's solid.

SUre, I drilled out 2 spots in the basswood to epoxy CF rod into. It will make a "U" shape when done. Then I used a piece of heated piano wire to make the holes for the CF to insert into. Then I epoxied the crap out of it.

No problem. Make sure to use plenty of 30 minute epoxy or gorilla glue for this. It help a ton.

I am not sure why. I can see them fine. Anyone else get x's in boxes? If so i can try to host them elsewhere. Kevin

Hey mrmugen I just thought I would let you know that I bought a set of mini pulse landing gear and installed them with some very small differences (Spell check) and I can't tell you enough how great these are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are stiff as a board and have little or no flex. There just GREAT!!! The differences that I made are instead of using cf rod I used two wooden dowels. And instead of cutting the wood base the full width of the fuselage I cut it only the width of the top part of the landing gear. I also painted it black to match my "Night Lightning" covering scheme! I can't even see the wood base at all. It just looks like I bolted the landing gear to the fuse. All I have to say is thanks a ton for telling me how to make this mod (I only wish I could keep it all to myself ;D ;D ;D) PS: I will post pics in a few days.

mr! I love those wheels! Is there a way of acquiring that bracket without buying another plane? I don't have workspace or a shop to handle plane repair or modifications. Looking for a solution (tundra tires) the easy way.
Nice pictures. Thanks.

Here is a pic I drew (don't laugh too hard) on paint illustrating the way the cf dowels are inserted. Wood will work fine too.

After bending the stock wire strut many times, I was entranced by this solution. This gear looks very nice. I bought the part and installed a wood block with wood dowels. The block was about 2 1/2 in square by about 3/4 in thick. I added dowels to go up into the fuselage. I used 5 min epoxy glue. This has been VERY strong.
The blue strut was very light, aluminum. The paint peeled from it readily, but it looked good with 2 3/4 in wheels. I flew this and had one good landing. it was a little windy, and on a subsequent landing it hit hard on a baseball diamond, a day after a rain, and bent the strut on one side. I was shocked. At first I couldn't bend it back, but later I did. There is still a little warp at the angle. The wood block is unmoved. I have not flown since.
What is the group experience?
Alan

ion... I had a banged up landing gear set from my used mini-pulse. I replaced it with new and bolted the banged up ones to the cub. It works perfectly.

These photos are before and after installing an Eflite Mini Pulse XT landing gear, part no. EFL2380, blue, $6.99, with Dubro 2 2/4" wheels. I did a hammerhead turn, too close to the ground and with too little throttle. It went straight down. I gave it hard up elevator, and it hit the ground on the wheels, spreading the strut, again. It had bent a previous time, on one side. I have re-bent it back, again. I have had good landings with this in bunchy grass that would have tripped the plane with smaller wheels and the stock landing gear. [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] Alan
