I had to replace my motor today because, of a big cut in battery life. I had a fully charged battery last less then one min. I started to notice a variation in throttle when the throttle was full. At first, I thought it was the radio then after a forced landing the motor would not run. I was thinking of the esc, once the plane was on the ground I had control over the contol surfaces. I turned the prop only to notice the motor was locked up. I turn it and it spun freely, I then throttled it up to notice a big lack in prop rpm. After a good lube, it seemed to run great and then the throttle surges started. I called up the LHS and the guy said he had a few HZ SC motors in stock. I got two of them and cracked the old motor open to find a brush leaning to the side with a bad wear pattern. The other brush was almost new, HZ breaks in the motors from the factory with preset brush heads. If you take your gearbox off you can see the brushes in the motor vent on the side of the can. The new motor works great!!!!!!!!! ;D I was going to take a pic of the bad brush but, misplaced it.
