Hey guys New to this so bear with me.
Bought a Hz super cub with safe rtf dx4e tx. Maiden voyage gone huh, found it3days later everything worked but battery. My question is I can range check @90 feet and it passes so I put it in the air and once I get out to say 200' I lose all control of rudder, throttle still functions should the range be better than that or is this just a parkflyer. not real sure what's goin on just lookin for some help
Thought I add, it only happens high up like 100'

It should be totally fine at way more than 200'
If it range checks ok with the transmitter in range check mode then it points to possible interference or an electrical problem that only shows due to vibration or heat/load.
When the plane was lost, if the battery went too low (they should never be run to completely flat) then it could be that the voltage drops when under load...
Either way, whether its battery or ESC/receiver, I bet that the voltage is too low to power the servos and receiver together.

Maybe so many things BUT, i will say this and I do not mean any ill..BUT what Mode were you in ? Why I ask is , after flying with SAFE Rx planes, if in beginners mode when applying radio stick inputs sometimes it acts as if there is no control....reason for that is it's ,limited control travel. It literally takes FOREVER to make a turn in Beginner Mode.
I learned that the hard way with a Delta Ray, it spent it's first several flights in the tree's. No matter what i did it seemed to have a mind of it's own. ( Having to climb tree's and throw rocks and climbing ladders and using extension poles for this old guy was a royal pain ). But when I applied stick input it acted as if i had no control at all...and in reality It didn't .
Flying in Intermediate mode is easier, but even it ( especially with the DR ) it still takes some room to turn...of course, Once I learned that fact and was expecting it . the DR also uses the motors to turn like a rudder ( as it has no rudder) One motor spins faster than the other allowing a faster turn radius. Made turns easier and nicer
But now on the Super Cub ( as i installed a SAFE in my older Sc Model )...it also wanted to take forever to turn...knowing that before hand, I never use Beginner except to land sometimes. the Super cub flies so easy, one does not really need beginner or intermediate ...if your going to fly, use the intermediate and Expert modes....
If you had Wide open area and no possible objects around, beginner mode is great....But again it takes forever to turn and control surfaces move so slight.....it was frustrating to me.
The Super Cub to me flies much easier in expert mode and in my case I will re-install the original RX and fly it like it was to start with....( but i had to experiment a little )
And last year very little flying time due to winds and health....
Bear in mind it may not be any issue with the plane, but the way the SAFE is programmed.
get yourself a New battery and fly closer to yourself and fly in Intermediate and Expert Mode and see the difference.....
The SC will turn almost on a dime in expert mode . This Cub will fly in very limited locations, i know my field is small.

Yeah the Super Cub is really a Great plane as is....I believe they placed SAFE on it just to make New sales. The SC does not need SAFE, it is an excellent plane. Now do not get me wrong the SAFE technology is great for so many models. I have the E-FLITE SAFE units,( one that comes in the Apprentice 4 channel plane ) right now one is installed in my Archer awaiting a maiden flight and I also am going to install one in the much larger Flybeam, night flying plane at some point. And the SAFE Unit I bought to try in my SC , i am going to place on a SlowStick at some point, just to have that panic button and also to allow me to land it smoother in Beginners mode.( rough field and SS is so delicate ) And also it will allow me to be able to fly planes that i am not use to flying much easier. As my field is very small. here is an entire Form thread about the Entire List of planes that people are installing the SAFE RX into. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2135213&highlight=E+Flite+SAFE+in+another+planeIf one had a very large area, the beginner mode is perfect to get use to a plane...but the Intermediate also does that in a limited area, like mine.Plus you have that panic mode and even the stabilization of the AS3X for the windier area I have , something I intend to use to my good with that Slow Stick at some point. Glad you got to fly and enjoyed it.....that is great.
