Whilst I'm still able to post (and not totally blathered and incoherent!), Myself and Mr.Squeaks would like to say Happy New Year to all at Supercub club! May your 2014 flights be long, crashes fixable and squirrels( if you have one) be able to see goal posts better! Big thank you for the help and the banter ( you know who you are!), and apologies for the drunken posting...it will never happen again! ......(until the next time.... Hope you all have a wonderful 2014! Happy New year!!

Thanks toff and Happy New Year to you too and all on this forum. If these endless gales would cease for a while so I could have my first flight with the SC my year will be happy. (unless I crash it of course) :-)

(unless I crash it of course) :-) Sailor even if you crash it would still be a joy. My first flight with my Cub was wonderful even when i landed it in a tall Pine. No damage, No issue, other than having to climb up to get it down. Still was fun and exciting and a Joy.

No damage, No issue, other than having to climb up to get it down. Still was fun and exciting and a Joy. As you may remember hg I think I hold the record for worst "first" flights! My first first was ended by letting my new SC get too high and get swept to the land of Oz by the upper winds. Having pitty on my depression over this trauma, my wife allowed me (after several fruitless days of searching) to buy a BNF SC which I proceded to "loose in the sun" on my second first flight! Over a week of searching resulted in my trading an extra laptop to a guy for another "still in the box" full SC. That one actually survived it's first flight and my addiction was completed and I haven't looked back since. By the way, I am set for chargers and plug in 12 volt adapters! For me at least, this "hobby" has transformed into an "obsession" which I hope to never find a treatment for!

I wonder just how the average time would be recorded if there was ever a poll showing just how long Super Cub owners had owned and flown their SCs before they experienced their first crash? I suspect many would record their reply in hours or even minutes (excluding assembly time). It would be fun to see just how we all fared and see about how long to expect a newbie to have a cherry or virgin Super Cub on hand. I was trying to remember, but I know my plane was crashed on my first attempt at flight. I don't recall how long I had actually owned it prior to taking that first flight, but I think it was only a few days. I guess I am trying to push it out of my memory, but it was all my own fault and not the plane's. :-)

I did Mods, larger wheels, reinforcements,CG check over and over to ensure perfect...waited due to place to fly, decided to go out early one Foggy morning and she took off, flew great, dipped harder on turns than expected banged the ground in a turn still flew Great and after about 4 and a half minutes she decided to land in a tall pine.....it was Beautiful...I almost cried Not because of landing in Pine, but because I waited so long to fly...I loved it...even the landing in the pine.... Getting her down was another story. But My story was perfect compared to jklong's....would have cried for sure had it flown away.....much less twice...sorry JK but....probably would have gave up on a Cub.... but like you I am addicted, now have far to many planes.............and now a new mini Super Cub too.
